Douglas R. Powell was born in Staten Island, New York on December 20th, 1953. With an innate interest of helping the injured, Douglas began his scholastic legal career in 1980 when he was admitted to Wake Forest University Law School. During this time, Douglas participated in:
Subsequent to law school, Douglas served as Lt., Judge Advocate General’s Corps, USNR (1981-1985) in the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Administrative Law Judges.
In 1988, he and Jack Hinton began the law firm of Hinton & Powell, where Douglas practices Civil Litigation, Torts, Professional Malpractice, and Workers’ Compensation Law. Since starting the firm, he has remained vigilant and active within the law community.
Douglas participates in four different bar associations: Atlanta, North Carolina, the American Bar Association, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He also maintains membership in:

When he’s not busy successfully negotiating generous settlements or winning cases for his clients, Douglas serves on the Wake Forest University Law Board of Visitors and provides input and leadership on critically important aspects of the law school.
